Free Credit Report

HOW TO OBTAIN YOUR FREE CREDIT REPORT

The government allows consumers to request a Free Copy of their credit report every 12 months from each of the three credit bureaus from Equifax, Experian and TransUnion. Consumers can request all three at once or spread out their request over the 12 month period.

While there are many sites on the Web offering "free" credit reports, many of those offers require you to sign up for a free trial of credit-monitoring service that will cost money.

The official site where you can get free, no-strings attached, credit reports go to the centralized source:   www.annualcreditreport.com   This is the only site that participates in the government program.

You can download and print your credit report online or request your report by mail. You can also order by telephone at 877-322-8228 You can receive one free credit report from each of these three agencies every year. After reviewing your credit reports, if any errors are found report them to that specific creditor and request that they be corrected.
